  What to do when your GP practice is closed:










-       If it’s a life-threatening emergency call 999






-       If you need medical help but it’s not an emergency call 111











During normal practice opening hours, the practice remains your first point of contact for all routine requests.











NHS 111 is the number to call when you need medical help fast but it’s not a life-threatening emergency.  Calls to NHS 111 are FREE from landlines and mobiles and NHS 111 is available 24/7, every day of the year








When to call 111






You should call 111 when:





  • You think you need to go to A&E or to another NHS urgent care service
  • Your GP surgery is closed and you need healthcare advice
  • You don’t know who to call for medical help.







When to call 999






Call 999 for life threatening emergencies such as:





  • Major accident or trauma
  • Severe breathlessness
  • Severe bleeding
  • Loss of consciousness


Severe chest pain.  












Need to see a GP Out of Hours GP and nurse appointment.









The surgery offers extended hours for patients who require them due to work commitments etc.







There are appointments available on weekends and evenings for all Darlington patients.





Saturday 8:00am - 2:00pm





Sunday 9:00am - 1:00pm




Monday to Thursday evenings 6:30pm - 9:00pm




Friday evening 6:30pm - 8:30pm




**Appointments MUST be pre booked via your own GP practice or by calling NHS 111.




 **Please note that the appointments are NOT held at Denmark Street Surgery**




Please note - The Surgery is closed one afternoon every month (please see below).  For urgent medical advice please contact 111 - who will help and direct you to the most appropriate healthcare provider. 






Please remember to order your repeat medication in time and allow an extra half day for the closed afternoons.  The staff will be at training provided by our Darlington Clinical Commissioning  Group and not available to help with repeat medications or queries.

Thursday: 7.30am- 6.00pm
Friday: 7.30am - 6.00pm
Saturday: closed
Sunday: closed

Please note The Surgery is now open between 7:30am and 6:00pm Monday-Friday.   

For test results please telephone after 11.00am.


The surgery will be closed for Protected Learning Time all afternoon from 12:00pm  on the following dates:
